RIP Phil McCombs

July 27th, 2008 by pablo

The time I was closest to my brother Phil was when he was home from grad school looking for work, I was not old enough to drive yet, and he would hang out with me and sister Kriste. We would watch TV, Pee Wee’s Playhouse and Days of Our Lives were some of our Favorites. We would go bargain shopping at the Nordstrom Rack, and no one could get a better bargain than Phil. It’s a Psychobilly Freakout, that’s what it is!

June 28th, 2008 by pablo

Ally & I went to see the Reverend Horton Heat last night. The Rev as usual put on a excellent show. He played the two songs I was particularly hoping for, 400 Bucks and Psychobilly Freakout.

It was the first time Ally had been to see a rock show in a club (The Showbox Sodo), and it was an eye opening and hearing damaging experience for her. The Reverend is a class act all the way and an amazing guitar player.

Some highlights of the show were the crowd participation on 400 Bucks and the Jimbo Song; Allyson picking a fight with a drunken fuck-nut; and a series of covers by the Rev staring with Green Sleeves and working up through Folsom Prison Blues, King of the Road, and other songs to end with In Bloom by Nirvana. Oh and lest I forget, a Kelly Clarkson slam.

Nashville Pussy, and the Super Suckers opened. There were lots of Super Suckers fans, as they are a local band, and their final song Born with a Tail (really the only Super Suckers song I know) was sung by the entire crowd, for a rocking good time.

Nashville Pussy will not be finding it’s way onto my iPod, but they were alright for a southern-fried metal band.

Overall I had a great time, and reccomend any fan of Rock, Rockabilly, or wicked mad guitar skills go see the Reverend Horton Heat when you get the chance.

Celebrating 2 years of Wedded Bliss

April 15th, 2008 by pablo

Today is the second anniversary of Allyson’s & my marriage.

Ally, I love you with all my heart, and every day I’m grateful that you married me and joined my life. You are my favorite girl.

To celebrate our anniversary Ally & I are going to our favorite Italian restaurant tonight, and taking a trip to Portland on Thursday. For her anniversary present Ally got her very own web domain. You should check out Ally’s songs if you haven’t already. Ally is a gifted singer and song writer. We sold out her CD at the album release party, but we’re getting more in the mail tomorrow.

Here is a picture of her performing at the Wayward Coffee House.

Ally and I have polished up the songs from her fawm effort, and have purchased an edition of 25 CDs from discmaker.com. The CDs came via UPS today, I haven’t seen them ye, but Ally says they look nice. I’ll get to take a look and a listen when I get home from work.

That’s kind of exciting.

Mean Eyed Cat (Johnny Cash)

This is a fun sounding meme, as this things are called in the blog world. I got it from It’s All About Me, somehow my RSS reader missed it from Bitterkat.

Directions:
1. Put your iTunes, Windows Media Player, iPod etc. on shuffle.
2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer.
3. YOU MUST WRITE THAT SONG NAME DOWN NO MATTER HOW SILLY IT SOUNDS
